The design hasn’t changed much except for some minor changes like using the new Google font API which seems to work better at bigger fontsizes.  See the bold text with shadow at the bottom of the page, just above the footer.

This search engine now uses a total of 5 API’s:

• Google Custom Search API
• Google Font API
• Google Search AJAX API
• Bit.ly API
• Twitter API

Working on getting the load speed under 1.5 seconds average because  Google is taking load times into account nowadays, so it seems. Page load times higher then  1.5 seconds are regarded as slow, using the Firefox plugin Page Speed which is actually a plugin for the famous Firebug plugin.  Page speed gives dozends of optimization tips like using the browser cache, minifying CSS and minimizing DNS lookups. Current average load speed for google4games.com is 2.2 seconds (Google webmaster tools Labs feature),  so i should be able to shave 0.7 seconds off. Ofcourse the  Coldfusion hosting company (Crystaltech) and the various 3rd party sites used through the API”s are beyond my control.
