10 rules for website development

These 10 ‘rules’ for building a good website are adapted and translated form Xaviera Ringeling, a great contentgirl who knows how to write.

  1. Keep your navigation clear, ovious and standard.
  2. Keep the homepage unclouded.
  3. Build trust through standard navigation elements.
  4. Add a search-box.
  5. Ditch the ‘splash-page’ or intro-page before your homepage.
  6. Use Flash sparingly.
  7. Always give visitors a ‘next step’ to go to, also after they filled in a form or placed an order.
  8. Create good content.
  9. Do use ALT-tags for images and do not automatically start music
  10. Keep practical information short and concise.

Ofcourse there are alot more do’s and dont’s to website building, but these 10 rules go a long way towars building a user-friendly site.
